“We’re continuing to see sponsors make significant investments in best-of-breed, easily interoperable solutions,” reports Himanshu Kansara, managing partner at Wincere. “Especially solutions that will meet specific requirements across all areas of the clinical research process. Having said that, almost all of the organizations that we approach are thinking of a SaaS (Software as a Service) model for all their clinical applications. And as a result of that demand, we have developed some innovative solutions around our Medidata Rave offering.”
PharmaVoice concurs, recently tracking how fast SaaS is gaining traction with biopharmaceutical firms across the industry, concluding that SaaS not only provides a zero-footprint solution but is also quickly implemented and cost effective, ideal for compliance issues, and frees up staff to focus on more creative work.
Anticipating the SaaS impact, Wincere had previously invested in offshore EDC capacity to help achieve even more efficiencies for its drug discovery sponsors to conduct their EDC trials. “What first began as an offshore joint venture,” said Kansara, “is now nearly outright Wincere owned. We have assumed the facility, staff, resources, operations, and infrastructure. And it’s all SaaS driven.”
Gilead’s Jason Carlson, Director, Clinical Data Management & EDC Programming and Brian Olender, Associate Director, EDC Programming, are looking forward to the anticipated collaboration. “Jason and I were both impressed with Wincere’s capability,” said Olender. “We were especially impressed with their alacrity, which we consider a key differentiator.”
The offshore venture allows Wincere to offer customers a new dimension in its outsourcing capacity: it’s own facility, staff and SaaS capability.
